Studio Visit

At first glance, the gradual kaleidoscopic elevation of the photographer Ignacio Barrios’ work draws the eye to the smooth tactility of suspended papers — their gravity reinforced not so much by movement but by a crisp still shot. The crispness suggests cleanliness, but upon closer inspection it becomes clear that the artist likes to keep some of the sheets ‘dirty’ by leaving finger marks, an indication of his preferred aesthetic.
