Possibly one of the best Belgian museums for contemporary art lies in Charleroi. Founded in 2000 as an exhibition space for contemporary art, BPS22 acquired the status of a museum in 2015. The 2,500-square-metre building it occupies was once the Fine Arts Pavilion for the 1911 Commercial and Industrial Exhibition, designed to showcase the economic, industrial and cultural achievements of Wallonia.
