A Conversation with Lucy McKenzie
Lucy McKenzie is a Scottish artist based in Brussels. She is primarily known as a painter but also works with various other media, including assemblage, video, installation, sculpture and writing. She incorporates a wide range of artistic techniques, such as trompe l’oeils, storytelling, collage and playing with authenticity, and is known for her extensive cross-referencing of pop culture, literature and graphic arts. Her solo exhibition ‘Super Palace’ at Z33 in Hasselt opens on 29 September.
FL: (Febe Lamiroy) From the press release of ‘Super Palace’ I gather that the show will be quite extensive, a kind of Gesamt-ensemble. What can we expect?
LM: (Lucy McKenzie) The show will be divided between the upstairs and the downstairs.
